The ACT Chief Minister’s Export Awards are now officially open for 2018 nominations.
Each year, the ACT Export Awards recognises the excellence of local businesses by celebrating their success and highlighting them as local export champions. ACT Finalists will go on to attend the 56th Australian Export Awards National Ceremony held in December.
“As the Territory’s most prestigious business award, businesses within the Canberra Region that export abroad are strongly encouraged to apply to showcase their local pride and receive national recognition,” said Canberra Business Chamber CEO, Robyn Hendry.
Hailing from a wide range of industries including Education, Digital Technologies, E-Commerce, Creative Industries, and Health and Biotechnology, the ACT Export Awards has seen many strong local winners in the past, including Aspen Medical, Seeing Machines and IE Asia Pacific.
“This year, we are strongly encouraging businesses from Canberra, and the local Canberra Region to apply,” said Ms Hendry.
“The landscape for businesses within the Canberra Region is changing and developing. In August last year, we saw the first international export of perishable goods straight out of the Capital to Singapore. We also had continued growth in the export of services”
“There’s the capability for even more organisations to use Canberra as an export hub, with our direct international flights to Singapore and Doha,” Ms Hendry continued.
Any local regional business that considers Canberra its main export hub is eligible to enter the 2018 ACT Chief Minister’s Export Awards.
Entries are judged based on innovation of strategic marketing, export growth and ability to sustain the growth, sustainable competitive advantage, value and contribution of exporting to business expansion, and the overall company commitment to international business.
In 2018, entrants will be able to receive personalised assistance by attending Entrant Workshop and accessing an application review service, which aims to strengthen applications for national judging.

- 7 May 2018: Launch of the 2018 ACT Chief Minister’s Export Awards and entries open.
- 30 July 2018: Entries to the 2018 ACT Chief Minister’s Export Awards and entries close.
- 27 September 2018: 2018 ACT Chief Minister’s Export Awards Ceremony.
- 4 December 2018: 56th Australian Export Awards National Ceremony.
