After months of work and planning the inaugural Festival of Flavour will open its gates at The Murrumbateman Recreational Grounds in the Yass Valley this coming weekend.

This inaugural event will highlight and showcase the wide variety and diversity of the food, wines, beer and produce that is available within the Yass Valley and Canberra regions, making it a wonderful weekend event. It takes place over two days Saturday 29 and Sunday 30 October.

Event Manager, Elizabeth Newham Nichols, is looking forward to working with the many talented winemakers and producers involved in the event.

“There is such a wide variety of flavours available within the region. The festival is the perfect opportunity for visitors to sample them all in one place,” said Elizabeth.

Not only will there be loads of food and wine to taste, sample and purchase … there will also be a range of activities that will make the visit truly memorable for both the visitor and the exhibitor. The full schedule of events includes OzHarvest cooking demonstrations, wine and cider talks and live music.

One of the highlights of the event will be the Saturday night VIP Long Table Banquet where visitors will enjoy an evening of tempting food and wines, complete with entertainment from the Baker Bays band – a spectacular must do event.

“We are excited to be part of this great event initiative and have already booked our stand to promote the Yass Valley region”, said Sean Haylan, Economic Development & Tourism Manager for the Yass Valley.

“It will be a highlight on our event calendar and we are very proud that our region was chosen as the venue,” Sean continued.

The Murrumbateman Recreational Grounds is the perfect venue with easy access to amenities such as parking. It’s also well known in the wider community and an easy drive from either Canberra or Sydney. With its background in hosting Field Days, the grounds are well versed in big events.

The event will play host to 50 exhibitors including some of the region’s famous wineries, foods and products.

The Festival of Flavour will run from 10am both Saturday 29th and Sunday 30th October. Tickets are available online or at the gate. To find out more, visit www.festivalofflavour.com.au
