Media Release – 1 April 2015

With some other Canberra produce markets closed this long weekend, the Old Bus Depot Markets is the place to go on Easter Sunday to fill your basket with locally-produced Easter goodies, from award-winning hot cross buns to Easter themed cake pops.

Hop over to Dream Cuisine while at the markets and pick up some of their hot cross buns. These sticky, sweet buns are made from organic naturally dried fruit, and they even took out the award for the best hot cross buns contest in the 2014 Canberra Times Food Guide.

For some other truly yummy Easter treats, be sure to visit Crafted³. Owner Natalie Hare has been baking a range of amazing Easter themed goodies including chocolates, rocky road half eggs, Easter themed cupcakes, Easter cake pops, marshmallow peeps and more.

Enjoy the hunt for these and other Easter treats, as well as the small antiques and quirky collectables on offer as part of the Portobello Road theme day, also at the Old Bus Depot Markets on Easter Sunday.

“At Portobello Road visitors can browse all kinds of items including funky lamp shades, tea cups and saucers, retro decorative art, antique jewellery, china and art glass, silver, linens and restored pieces,” said Morna Whiting, Director of the Old Bus Depot Markets.

“Our customers always tell us the fun of this day is in the search for that something special – that certain something you won’t find in stores. Items that tell stories and share a little about lifestyles from times gone past,” Morna continued.

“Combined with the hunt for goodies of the gastronomical kind, we think we’ve got the ultimate Easter experience for both young and old alike.”

Portobello Road on Easter Sunday will be open Sunday 5 April from 10am to 4pm. Entry is free. For more information on the Old Bus Depot Markets go to www.obdm.com.au
