Media Release – Friday 21 November 2014

Canberra’s Old Bus Depot Markets are getting ready to celebrate Christmas with a variety of brand new Christmas stallholders, delicious fresh Christmas foods and, to welcome in the silly season in true Christmas spirit style, the Annual Christmas Stallholder Sale on Saturday 6 December.

“There’s just over a month until Christmas, and all of our stallholders have been super busy creating some truly beautiful and distinctive Christmas gifts and food,” said Old Bus Depot Markets’ Director, Diane Hinds.

“It’s always such a great time of year to visit the markets as it’s buzzing with a really Christmassy feel. The markets make a great place to stock up on Christmas decorations, food and gifts for friends, and to find something a little different that’s made lovingly by hand, not mass-produced,” Diane continued.

In the lead up to Christmas Day the markets will be open on both Saturdays and Sundays throughout December, which gives more time for customers to find what they’re looking for, and more opportunity for the many stallholders to spread the Christmas cheer.

“We’re kicking the season off with our Annual Christmas Stallholder Sale on Saturday 6 December. On this day customers can take advantage of exclusive specials, bonus gifts with purchase and some very good deals. And we’re also so pleased this year that we have lots of completely new stallholders with Christmas gift ideas” Diane continued.

New products on offer this Christmas include delightful handmade wooden Christmas trees and ornaments from Woodmade Trees; Christmas pamper packs for dogs from Pup Cakes and More; handmade Christmas nativity sets and angels from Julie Aston; and hand stamped Christmas cards and decorations, garlands and Christmas gift boxes from diskINKtive Stamping Designs.

There will also be plenty of Christmas food including gingerbread houses (and cute mini once that sit on cups!), mince tarts, cakes, Christmas puddings, shortbread and other specialist Christmas treats.

“We’ll have all the Christmas favourites including wreaths, live Christmas trees, decorations, handmade stockings, advent calendars and table centre pieces. We can’t wait to share in this exciting season with Canberrans and visitors this Christmas,” Diane concluded.

Christmas at the Old Bus Depot Markets will be open Saturday 6 (stallholder sale) and Sunday 7 December, Saturday 13 and Sunday 14 December, and Saturday 20 and Sunday 21 December from 10am to 4pm. Entry is free. For more information and details on the Annual Christmas Stallholder Sale offers go to www.obdm.com.au
